[h2]synopsis[e]
[code]
mp version
mp --version # equivalent; mp.pl rewrites the flag spelling before dispatch
[e]
[h2]description[e]
prints mp's own version, then execs [code]mpx version[e] to report what the compiled backend was actually built with (target, every CFLAGS it was built with, from [code]buildinfo.h[e], generated fresh by [code]mk/b.sh[e] at compile time -- see [code]src/version.c[e]), then the full discovered command and plugin list (identical discovery logic to [code]mp.pl[e]'s own dispatcher and [code]mp help[e], kept as its own small copy here rather than reaching back into a script).
[h2]examples[e]
[code]
mp version
mp 4.1.0
mpx <mpx's own version/build-flags line>
commands: clean conflicts dryrun export fetch files hold hook info install list mask ...
plugins: devtest doctor lint new depcheck

[h2]see also[e]
nothing needs a dedicated "help" page -- [code]mp help[e] just prints the usage summary (this same command/plugin list, plus package-set/%tag/world/all syntax and a pointer to [see name="reference/mp-conf-example"]mp.conf.example[e]).
